DHS-Drexel - OCT/NOV 2021 On-Line - Motivational Interviewing in Forensic Settings Online Registration
Training offered by Drexel University
Description: Motivational Interviewing (MI) has shown solid efficacy across many issues and populations. However, MI has a reputation as being a "softer" approach to helping, and as such is often viewed as inappropriate or ineffective in forensic settings. As it turns out, MI has demonstrated many successes with forensic populations and settings. This workshop will address challenges and opportunities with implementing an MI approach in these various environments. This workshop will feature an interview with: John Bowers, an MI expert with career experience in forensics throughout Utah and Colorado; and Chris Owens, MA, LPC, CCTP from Drexel University. Both are current members of MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers).
NOTE: This session was originally recorded for the Drexel University 28th Annual Forensic Conference.
